Dr. Omar Sulaiman

Founder & President, Yaqeen Institute
Sheikh Omar Suleiman, born in 1986 in New Orleans, Louisiana, to a Palestinian Muslim family, was shaped by both the warmth of his community and the challenges of being Muslim in the West. He pursued Islamic studies with scholars across several countries while excelling academically, earning a Bachelor’s in Accounting, a Bachelor’s in Islamic Law, Master’s degrees in Islamic Finance and Political History, and pursuing doctoral studies in Islamic Thought and Civilization at the International Islamic University of Malaysia. He served as an Imam in New Orleans, where he became known for his leadership during Hurricane Katrina relief efforts, and later as Resident Scholar at Valley Ranch Islamic Center in Dallas, Texas, where he also co-founded interfaith clergy associations. He is the Founder and President of Yaqeen Institute for Islamic Research, which produces accessible, research-based resources to strengthen faith and address doubts, and the founder of MUHSEN (Muslims Understanding and Helping Special Education Needs), a pioneering nonprofit supporting Muslims with disabilities and advocating for inclusive mosques. A respected teacher and public speaker, he has produced widely followed lectures, Ramadan series, and reflections that blend spirituality, scholarship, and social justice, reaching millions worldwide. Centered on the belief that Islam embodies justice, mercy, and compassion, he emphasizes sincerity in faith, the duty to stand against oppression, the importance of interfaith cooperation, and the need for young Muslims to live confidently while serving their communities. Today, he continues to inspire through teaching, writing, and organizational leadership, shaping a generation of Muslims who are spiritually grounded, socially responsible, and globally engaged.
